What would stop a car heater from working?

My car's heater hasn't been working lately and i don't understand how that would happen. I thought that the heater just pulled hot air from under the hood? I'll drive my car around for and hour or two and it still blows cold air. Any one know what could be wrong? P.S. I just had the oil changed and the mechanic said the upper radiator hose needed to be replaced, I would think if the engine wasn't getting all the coolant it needed that it would just make the heater work better, no?

If your radiator leaks, that could be the problem. I would replace the upper radiator hose the mechanic mentioned %26amp; see if that helps %26amp; check often to make sure your water/coolant level stays full.

101 reasons...
heater control valve is stuck closed..

radiator hose has nothing to do with it.
it could be your heater core your heater works with your hot coolant it runs threw what looks like a little radiator that is under your dash
The one before me is right! It's the heater core.
