go ahead and replace the thermostat and lower hose while you are doing it, make sure it is a high temp (195 degree) thermostat because your computer won't activate until your car reaches a high enuff temp and that will mess up economy etc. since it is a hew radiator, the easy way to flush the engine is to remove the thermostat, put a garden hose into the hole in the block where the thrmostat goes and turn on the water, place a large catch pan under the lower radiator hose (that is just ahnging there disconnected) and start the engine. let water flow out the lower hose into the catch pan until it runs clear. replace thermostat, install radiator and hoses and add one gallon of antifreeze. Since you have completely flushed everything it is ok to use the extended (5 year) stuff. add another gallon of water (or as much as it will take) and start the engine %26amp; allow it to come up to operating temp while the radiator cap is OFF. When the car warms up, the thermostat will open and you will be able to add more water. If it takes more than 2 gallons, add equal parts water and antifreeze to top off, replace your radiator cap, make sure the plastic overflow bottle is at teh correct mark and restart car and allow to come up to full temp and check for leaks. that ought to do it.
