the radiator hoses are suppose to be hard (coolant has #16 of pressure),

and what warning light came on?, there are so many. and what makes you direct your attention to the radiator??? I think you are going the wrong way , anyway the heater core is inside the box that also carries the a/c evaporator, need to remove the dash, the a/c lines in the engine compartment, the heater hose, so give to a professional, you'll save yourself a lot of grief

the heater core may not be what caused it go get hot like that, the top hose is real easy to see its that one on top of the radiator,to remove the heater core though you have to remove the heater box and that does require the dash to be loosened enough to slide it back out of the way then you can remove the heater box assembly, but makes sure that's what is needed before you remove it, that's a lot of work to do to one without knowing for sure, good luck.
Heater cores are generally located under the dash inside the car on the passenger side. It's not hard to change but it is full of coolant. So take precautions if it truly needs to be changed. If your warning lite came on on it's probably not the core. Check your radiator fluid and thermostat first. Those are the first and easier quick fixes to check. Heater cores aren't normally the problem.
It is behind the dash on the passenger side of the car. The dash must come out of the car. On some vehicles, the windshield must be removed in order to remove the dash. A qualified technician could probably do the job in 6 hours.
