1993 ford explorer wont start?

i have a 1993 ford explorer that i let someone use. it blew the top radiator hose and blew coolant all over the engine .he pulled over and called me. when i went to fix it he said he tried to add water and start it but it would not start, so i tried to start it up before i changed the hose and seemed like it there was no spark.

i got it home and changed the coil pack thinking it shorted it out,but no change.

will it still start with no water in radiator?

can it short something else out getting soaked that would cause it not to start?

it sometimes sounds like it wants to fire but not enough to start.

any suggestions?

Dose the motor sound diffrent when you turn the motor over? (Trying to start the motor)

first add water then with the rad cap removed, crank eng see if water shoots out of the radaitor.if so you might have a blone head gasket.do a comp check to see if you have eny compreshion.if it does then try to hold the gas peddel all the way down, ang keep cranking the eng but not to long you will burn out the starter.and also check the spark at the plugs.
# 1 get water in it, you will damage the water pump seal if it runs without water / coolant. Next check the throttle position sensor located on the throttle body, it my be wet /damaged. If you have a distributor there may be moisture in or on the dist.. If you have a real dark garage take it in there and after dark open the hood, have someone crank the starter and watch carefully from all angles for obvious sparks that indicate a short or ground. This method can save a lot of time.
.if your engine was in good running condition before ,,it should start by now,,what happen is you flooded the engine when you tried to start it while its still wet with coolant ,since it should be dried by now and the gas inside the engine evaporate it should start,,,

yes it will still run with out water ,but only to test ,do not driv e

but if still wont start check spark plug or replace if you have not have a tune up yet.. the reason is sometimes when the old spark plug got soak with gas and it try to fire ,they get

fouled up ..

make sure everything is dry before you try to start it again, clean coolant around engine,

always remember that when you start a car for a long time

lot of unburned gas stay inside the cylinder causing it more not to start,
